UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL OKLAHOMA JAZZ LAB PRESENTS:
9th Annual Summer Jazz Camp
June 23 - June 28, 2019


Join the award-winning UCO Jazz Program for a jam-packed week designed to get YOU playing jazz! Participate daily in combos, masterclasses, improv & theory sessions, jazz history presentations, big band reading sessions and jam sessions in a fun and relaxed environment. Open to all instrumentalists age 14 and up. Space is limited. 

$350 tuition fee with an “early bird discount” of $50 for applications postmarked prior to June 1st, includes an official camp t-shirt and two special group meals. Convenient on-campus housing is available with rates starting at $35 per night. Private lessons will be offered for $25 per lesson. For more information: briangorrell@ucojazzlab.com (Please note a separate housing application must be filled out.) Placement auditions will be held on Sunday June 23, 2019 starting at 5PM in the UCO Jazz Lab.

 

Please note placement auditions are only intended to group students into appropriate combos based on ability level. Every student is guaranteed full participation once application and tuition payment have been processed.

Space is limited; all camp openings are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Cancellations must be made in writing and received prior to June 10, 2019 to receive a full refund minus a $50 administrative fee. Cancellations received after June 10th will not be refunded. SUNDAY, JUNE 23 (UCO JAZZ LAB - 100 EAST 5TH STREET IN EDMOND

1:00-4:30 Housing check-in if applicable. (UCO Campus Map

5:00 Student Orientation Meeting/Registration Confirmations - Arrive Early

5:45 Buffet style dinner provided for all participants by Hideaway Pizza

6:30-9:30 Placement audition held upstairs (scheduling details TBA)

6:30‐7:30 Informal Jazz concert featuring jazz camp staff

7:30­‐9:30 Student jam session with jazz camp staff

9:30PM Audition results posted–END OF DAY

 

** Throughout the week, transportation will be provided as needed between the School of Music building on the main campus and the UCO Jazz Lab. Students under the age of 18 staying in the dorms will be supervised by a responsible adult camp counselor. It is NOT necessary to stay in the dorms, but is the most affordable option for most out of town participants. Rates start at only $35 per night double occupancy.

12:00-12:55 LUNCH on your own (many restaurants are open on campus)

1:00 - 3:00 Combo Rehearsals (multiple groups will be formed) - School of Music

3:00 - 3:30 Afternoon Break

3:30 - 5:00 Masterclass Sessions (group sessions for each specific instrument) - School of Music

5:00 - 6:30 DINNER on your own

6:30 - 9:30 Student Big Band Reading Sessions & Jam Sessions - UCO Jazz Lab

9:30 END OF DAY
