Dennis Borycki has been teaching piano and keyboards for the University of Central Oklahoma since 2010, initially at the Academy Of Contemporary Music (ACM@UCO), and currently as instructor of Applied Jazz Piano at the UCO Jazz Lab. He brings a wide depth of musical experiences to his teaching skills, and has played with some of the country's top artists and session players including Jerry Reed, Russ Kunkel, Dave Santos, Conni Ellisor, Jim Hoke, Byron Berline, Kenny Garrett, Donny McCaslin, Ty England, Watermelon Slim, Bo Diddley, the Tennessee Repertory Theater, and Grammy winner, Barbara Bailey Hutchison.
Borycki has composed and performed two collections of original music: "Song For A Traveler", and a solo piano song cycle, "Silver Morning". He has also recently collaborated with Canadian poet and Order Of Canada recipient, Glen Sorestad, to create a collection poetry set to original jazz music. Formative educational experiences include Bachelors and Masters degrees in Organ performance from San Jose State University, and The University of Oklahoma, respectively, and workshops at the Banff Centre in Canada. Dennis has studied with several noted musicians and teachers including Mildred Andrews Boggess, Lou Harrison, Alan Strange, Dave Holland, and Ralph Towner.
